There are some really awesome blogs out there. I’ve spent hours reading, laughing and crying as these amazing men and women have opened their hearts to their followers. I’ve listed them a few of them here with links and a brief description of each.
Please visit them, support them and show them some love!
Okay, technically not a blog. But Monty Meyer and his cast of merry misfits feed us a constant supply of recovery goodness. The radio show includes music, guest appearances by people in recovery, those living with us and those who try to help us. Monty provides live streaming, videos and podcasts so that you can get your fix no matter where you are. The show is run entirely by volunteers and any support you can provide them will allow them to keep spreading the message.
I’m sure Nancy Carr and I crossed paths at a Grateful Dead show in the 80’s. Her experiences are eerily similar to mine and she writes about her addiction and alcoholism with candor and in vivid detail. She also has a decade of sobriety under her belt and shares her experience, strength and hope in ways that show all of us just how good a sober life can be. Her blog has been listed as one of the Top Recovery Blogs of 2015 and is definitely worth a visit.
Okay, there is so much I could say about this girl but you really just have to check her out yourself. Let me just say that she is a recovering alcoholic, a wife, a speaker, an author, a breath of very funny and real fresh air and… wait for it… a Christian mother who doesn’t home school! It’s like finding a snipe – they really do exist! Aside from TED talks, Glennon has spoken at Women of Faith events and has toured with other inspiring women. Too much more to list here – visit her site and fall in love yourself. I did.
A beautiful woman of grace and dignity started this blog on her journey to restoration. It is beautifully written and touches the hearts of many who struggle with life events, divorce, codependency and faith. Please visit my friend Denise and show her some love.
Kate is an amazing writer, an inspiration and an all around awesome woman. Her words move me and she uses her experience in behavioral health to help and heal wounded souls as a writer and public speaker. Check her out and support her new non-profit organization.
Lotta is from New Zealand and chronicles her sobriety month by month for the first year. Since then, she talks about anything and everything. And she just started another blog about mindfulness and meditation called Mrs. D. is Going Within. She’s also a mother, wife and an author. Enjoy!
This amazing blog is all about removing the stigma surrounding addiction, alcoholism, abuse, mental illness and suicide. It touches on all the aspects that contribute to stigma and what we all can do to change the way people look at those who need help. Really good stuff.
Very funny, very real stories of sobriety, sponsorship and life. He’s got more than a quarter century of sobriety and anyone who is still trying to figure out what a SnapChat is can relate to him. Check him out.
Brittany is a 30-something woman who found her way to recovery through faith. She writes about it all and has a unique way of reaching your heart. She’s very active on Twitter, too, despite the fact that she is a new mommy! Show her your appreciation by visiting her blog and sharing.
My friend Kevin Adams puts a fresh spin on archaic views of Christianity. Through his blog and guest posts from other believers, Kevin shows us that faith doesn’t have to be stuffy. He teaches us how to live by faith and more importantly, how to be okay with other people knowing that we live that way. He goes into even more detail in his book, The Extravagant Fool. Kevin’s words remind me that when I feel like I don’t have enough, am not good enough, am not enough… HIS grace is enough and that’s all that matters.
The title says it all! This sassy woman writes honestly about her experiences as an alcoholic who is also an adult child of an alcoholic. Really good, real, no BS stuff – and funny! She rocks!
There are so many, many more. Will be adding as time permits!
